AMERICAN IDOLS FALL

IDOL_510x317American idols losing on viewership!

American idols, one of the world`s most watched television music show has plunged into a ratings for past six years to date.
Reuters-says the show`s ratings have dropped by 20% since the start of its 12th season this year. This fall in rating has left Fox TV worried on how they can sustain the program, better the ratings and increase viewership. The show has been running since 2002 and probably it might be thinning-out.
Jason Maltby, a regular advertiser with the show says,” You look at the declines and you get a little bit concerned when you see double-digit drops…You wonder how much of it is due to personality change and how much is due to how long it has been on air…”
Despite the fact that the show is losing on ratings, its major sponsors which include Coke, AT&T and Ford haven`t started pulling out and they are still having access to the 18-49 age group audience…though the viewership of the show is thinning away.
Television analyst, Neilsen, says that, the show is no-longer pulling in as much viewers for Fox TV, as it used to in 2006 and 2007, back then it could pull in close to 30 million viewers per episode, now it attracts about 16.5 million viewers per episode/ half the figure.

i think the feud between Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj who happen to be part of the judges pannel is also contributing to the drop of viewership numbers. i mean in a case like this what are their fans supposed to do if they are at feud? there are also some who are fans of nicki and britney at the same time so in this case who do they choose and who do they leave out???

true that,… i think the show has ran its course….its funny these fox guys are worrying over a show that can still rack in millions of viewers and big advertisers like coke and AT&T, when here in zimbabwe we dont even have a tiny viewership…on our local tv…
